GP Citta di Felino 1.2 160km 12/8.06

It was a wet 160 kilometre race at yesterday's GP Citta di Felino. The course consisted of 18 laps of a flat course of just over 5 kilometres a lap, followed by four laps a 15 kilometre circuit featuring a tough climb. Matt Lloyd raced clear in a group of eight riders on the last climb of the day, but the main group of about 40 riders, caught the break at about five kilometres from the line. Our best hope for a bunch sprint, Matt Goss, had previously punctured and and failed to rejoin the main field. Remaining in the group were Shaun Higgerson and Jonny Clarke, neither of whom were able to place in the final sprint after working hard to set up Matt Lloyd in his late break. Peter Dawson also rode well to bring back a dangerous break in the closing stages.

The race was won by Italian sprinter Roberto Ferrari from Trevigiani.
