Tofeo Sportivi Briga 1.12 170km 10/8/08

Matthew Lloyd contnued his consistent run of results to finish tenth in yesterday's Trofeo Sportivi Briga, over 170 kilometres, in Italy yesterday. The team rode well to set Matthew up for the final narrow, twisty climb of the San Colombano "wall". In the hectic race of the lower part of the climb, Matthew lost some ground and pulled his foot out of the pedal trying to regain ground, causing him to drop back further. He finally got going and recovered to finish tenth behind winner, Italian Under 23 champion, Francesco Gavazzi.

The course was over 10 laps of a 16 kilometre course with a two kilometre climb. This was followed by a final six kilometre lap and a final ascent of the San Colombano wall, of a little over one kilometre in length. About 70 riders battled it out up the final climb from the 160 starters.
