In 2007 the South Australian Tourism Commission will support four Mountain Bike Cross Country riders to join the SouthAustralia.com-AIS road team for the European summer.

These four Under 23 athletes will focus on competing in all European UCI MTB XC World Cup events.  They will also compete in other major European Mountain Bike events as well as some supplementary road races.

This pathway will offer Australia’s developing elite MTB XC talent on-going exposure to top level competition which is a key to future Olympic success.  As well it will assist the riders in their efforts to progress to contracts with professional MTB teams.

The development group is selected based on assessment of athletes at key events including World Championships, World Cups and National Championships.  Consideration is also given to athlete attitude and commitment.

The SouthAustralia.com Under 23 Mountain Bike team is coached by Damian Grundy
